Family Background of Poonjraj Kesrani
Sir Poonjraj Kesrani S/o Late Shree Shivo Ji Suthar was born on 2nd June 1953 in New-Chhor a small town in district Umerkot. The family of Kesrani belongs to Shaashan(Nukh) Budhar who are actually descendants of the Parmar clan of Rajput.
Sir Poonjraj Kesrani married the daughter of Late Shree Tikamdas Maghani and from this marriage, God bestowed him proud children. It is because of his best qualities of parenting and teaching that all his sons and daughters are working in the noble professions of teaching and physicians.
Early Education
Poonjraj Kessani received his primary education from the Haveli Thakur school in 1964, and secondary education from the Middle School of New Chhor in 1967. At that time, New-Chhor was a small town and had no High School. Poonjraj Kesrani was very intelligent and had a great interest in books in his childhood. So he moved to Dhoro Naro and matriculated from the Government High School Dhoro-Naro in 1967.
After matriculation, he passed the Senior Vernacular Examination from Mirpur Bathoro in 1971 and was appointed as Primary School Teacher. As a primary teacher, his first appointment was in Otaq Faqeer Noor Muhammad Mangrio of taluka Umerkot. During his teaching service, he did intermediate from Sachal College Hyderabad in 1973 and Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.) in 1978. Then hid did an M.A. (Political Science) in 1978-79 and an M.A. (English) in 1980 from the University of Sindh Jamshoro.
Professional Career in the Education field
After matriculation, he passed the Senior Vernacular Examination from Mirpur Bathoro in 1971 and got a government job as a Primary School Teacher (PST). As a primary teacher, his first appointment was in Otaq Faqeer Noor Muhammad Mangrio of taluka Umerkot.
As an expert in English subject, he taught for some time on deputation in the Middle School of New Chhor where he was promoted to JST in 1976. The Middle School of New Chhor later got the status of High School in 1983. In 1985, he got promoted to HST and served here in this school. In 1987, he was appointed as a Field Officer in the new Roshni School Project in the district of Sanghar. In the same year, he was appointed as a Subject Specialist (of English) teacher and was posted in Higher Secondary School Sirhari, District Sanghar. After this, he became the Principal of the Higher Secondary School Chhor (Old).
In 2000, he became the Deputy District Education Officer (D.D.E.O) of Umarkot district. Education. After which he served as a Subject-Specialist in High School Umarkot for one year. He was again appointed to the Higher Secondary School of Chhor (Old) and he served as Principal there until 2005. He then became the District Education Officer (D.E.O) of Umerkot and served in this role until 2008. For some time he served as the Headmaster (Principal) of High School Mola Bux Rajar. After that, he became Headmaster of High School Faqir Qadir Bux Mangrio for 4 years. From this school, he retired from government services upon attaining the age of superannuation in 2013.
After Retirement from the Government Job
After retirement from government service, Poonjraj didn’t leave his noble profession of teaching and public works. He worked as a Principal at New Arqam Higher Secondary School, which is a renowned private school in Chhor (Old). In 2013, after serving there for almost a decade he resigned from that role due to his personal health and busy schedule. During his service at New Arqam School, he authored most of the famous books that were published by Roshni Publications.
Throughout his life, Poonjraj Kesrani worked with true spirit and zeal in the field of education and literacy. He always encouraged the parents for the education of their children, especially their daughters. For the first time with his efforts, he started co-ed classes for girls at Newchor Boys High School. He played an important role in creating a literary atmosphere in New Chhor. And, he has also been associated with social organizations and supported their noble social causes including Flood Relief Programmes.

He is a great example of hard work and perseverance for young generations, especially teachers.
